BUSINESS, INDUSTRY AND MINING

(a). Markets: The main market is located at about 1 Km from the Block Headquarters. In this market people from different villages under the Block and even from outside the block comes to buy and sell their agricultural products like Areca nuts, betel leaves, fruits, broomsticks etc every fourth day. 

(b). Hats: Hats are those trading places located in the border of Bangladesh like Hat Thymmai (Nongskhen), Hat Nongjri, Hat Lyngkhat and Hat Umniuh. In these Hats People of RiWar sells their agricultural products like fruits, bananas, Betel leaves, Areca nuts to Bangladeshis and in return Bangladeshis sells their fresh fishes  and vegetables.

(c). Registered Factories: There are certain types of registered factories e.g. Steel Fabrication, Hollow Block, Limestone and alike.

(d). The production from different types of factories are marketed in the state and to the country as a whole .

(e). Employment Generation: There are two types of employment generation in the  area:-

                  1. In the northern part of the area like Pynursla, Lyngkyrdem people are employed as Shop keepers   Carpenters, Masons, Cattle rearing, Self employed and Daily laborers.

                  2. In the Southern Part of the area about 85 % of the people are farmers who are really independent in agriculture.

(f). SSI Units: Small Scale Industry (SSI) unit like Cane and Bamboo industry, furniture, Steel fabrication, are found small in number.

(g). Co-operation : Co-Operative Societies like Marketing Co-Operative Society, Cane and Bamboo Co-operative Society.

(h). Fisheries, Sericulture and Weaving : Fisheries has been lacking behind under this area. There are only small Fish Ponds which are adapted for self-consumption.

(i).  Khadi and Village Industries : There are some Village and Khadi industries which were financed by the different Banks through the DIG and KVIG.
