    Language : Majority of the people speak their own mother tongue i.e. WAR (Khasi) 

    Religion : There are different Religions, but about 70% follow the Indigenous Tribal Faith and 30% are Christians.

    Caste/Tribes : Khasi (War) Scheduled Tribes

   Festivals/ Fairs : Shad Niam (PHUR) at Nongjri once in every two years, Shad Niam - Lyngdoh at WahKhen, Shad Mawja at Mawlam, Rangthylliang and Mawlam every year.

   Dress/Ornaments : Paila Ksiar, Earring, Dhara, Muka, Ksah, Shan-Dahmah, Ryndia, Bah Khaila, Spong, Lockets, Khadu, Sati.

    Food : Rice, Millets, Corn, Sweet Potato, etc.

   Music : Tangmuri, Nakra, Ksing Kynthei, Ksing Padiah, Besli, Meing, Duitara, Marynthing, Nakra, Padiah and Ksing.

    Dance and Art Form : (a) Shad Mawja, Shad Niam, Shad Lyngdoh.

    Sports and Games : Archery, Tug of War and Fishing.
